Perkins+Will Announces Hire of RK Stewart, AIA President in 2007, as Associate Principal
Perkins+Will CEO Phil Harrison announces that RK Stewart, FAIA, has joined the practice as an Associate Principal, effective February 12, 2008. Stewart will assume a leadership role in the San Francisco office on corporate, commercial and civic projects and fuel the expansion of the firm’s presence in Northern California and the West Coast.
Stewart recently served as the 2007 president of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), and he brings extensive experience in managing complex mixed-use, renovation, institutional and high-rise projects. He joins Perkins+Will after spending 20 years at San Francisco-based Gensler, where was a principal. In addition to project work, RK led development of improvements in Gensler’s design and delivery system.
He has undertaken projects throughout the country including Pennsylvania, Texas, Michigan and Illinois. Notable projects include: Electronics for Imaging office buildings, Foster City, CA; AFI (American Film Institute) Silver Theatre and Cultural Center preservation and adaptive re-use, Silver Springs, MD; Bayou Place Urban Entertainment Center Adaptive Re-use, Houston, TX; and the Jewish Community Center in San Francisco.
Prior to Gensler, Stewart worked for Heller Manus Architects and began his career at Skidmore Owings & Merrill.
