The Dominican Republic breaks ground on its largest mixed-use development
City Center by Lady Lee, which broke ground in late 2025, is the largest mixed-use development in the Dominican Republic.
Designed by RSP Architects, the 3.2 million-sf development features a 1 million-sf shopping mall, the project’s centerpiece. As the development’s first phase, the shopping mall will be completed in November 2027.
In addition to retail, the plan includes two 27-story office towers, six 30-story residential high-rises with almost 1,800 units, and a 17-story AC Marriott hotel and convention center.
Developed and operated by Corporación Lady Lee, City Center by Lady Lee is located near the ocean and 13 miles from the international airport.
“City Center by Lady Lee will attract both regional and international tourists as well as support the daily shopping needs of locals,” Christina Villa, RSP project manager, said in a statement.
With a main entrance offering a double-height canopy and water feature, the three-level mall has been designed as a series of five interconnecting themed neighborhoods.
To the west, next to the office towers, the court will serve as a platform for corporate events, product launches, and branded initiatives. To the east, next to the hotel and residences, the more park-like spaces will create an urban oasis. The plan includes a network of connected landscaped spaces and pedestrian paths.
“With centers this large and complex, it’s important to create a series of interconnected spaces that orient shoppers and help bring the scale down to a human, understandable level,” David Herbert, RSP project designer, said in the statement.
Along with national and global retail brands, City Center by Lady Lee will provide restaurants, cinemas, a gym, medical facilities, and entertainment zones. The development will dedicate space to small and medium-sized enterprises and will promote female entrepreneurship.
