Construction recently kicked off for the Miyako Hybrid Hotel in Plano, Texas. The 12-story, 217-room boutique hotel will be the first Miyako Hotels & Resorts property in Texas and only the third in the United States. The other locations are in Los Angeles and Torrance, Calif.

First Miyako Hotels & Resorts Property in North Texas

Projected to open fall 2027, it is located within The Park at Legacy development in Plano’s thriving business and entertainment district, home to major corporate campuses including Toyota Motor North America and 40 Japanese companies.

The hotel seeks to bring “Japanese elegance and premier service” to the North Texas region, according to a news release. Among the amenities announced thus far, the hotel will feature a traditional Japanese restaurant showcasing authentic cuisine, an upscale lobby bar and Japanese bakery, a Texas-style rooftop bar, outdoor pool, and fitness center.

The facility will also include a versatile banquet and conference space. The eco-friendly design emphasizes energy efficiency and sustainability.

“We chose Plano as the site for our new hotel because the area has experienced remarkable development in recent years,” said Takashi Wakai, president of Kintetsu Group Holdings. “It is home to many companies, including Toyota Motors North America, and the local community, including Plano, has welcomed us warmly,” Wakai said.

He added that the hotel’s name “reflects our desire to create a ‘hybrid’ of culture and service, a fusion of Western friendliness and Eastern attention to detail.”

“Our new hotel here will not be just another hotel, it will make full use of the best aspects of Japanese culture and service, and we aim to become a place that is loved by many people,” Wakai said.
