Bobrick’s Thrislington Smart Washroom Cubicle, Construction Specialties’ Lighted Blades LED lighting, Glen-Gery’s SK1N terracotta façade system, and Vitro Architectural Glass’s BirdSmart Bird Safe Glass are among the newly released or updated building products to be selected as BD+C’s 75 Top Building Products for 2025 by a jury of AEC professionals and the BD+C editorial team.

These and 71 other award-winning products make up our annual “best of the best” in new and updated building products for 2025.

HOW WE SELECTED THE WINNERS

To start, we invited all product manufacturers serving the U.S./Canadian commercial, institutional, industrial, and multifamily buildings markets to participate in an open submission process. Entries were free, and companies could submit up to three products.

A jury of practicing professionals and the BD+C editorial team reviewed and scored the submissions, based on the following factors:

• Overall potential benefit to project teams (e.g., solves a problem, installs quicker, improves the building design, speeds construction)
• Usefulness to clients/owners/developers (performance, durability, design, ROI, maintenance, etc.)
• Impact on building occupants (health, wellness, safety, productivity)
• Overall innovation within the product category (Is it a “first of its kind?” Does it advance the product category in some way?).  

More than 80 manufacturers participated in the program this year, submitting 143 products in all.

In the end, the jury selected 57 products as “Judges’ Picks” across seven product categories: Building Envelope, Building Systems, Glass and Glazing, Interior Products, Plumbing Products, Structural Products, and Windows and Doors.

The BD+C editors selected 18 "Editors' Picks" based on the team's travels to trade shows and other industry events; press release submissions; and exhaustive online research of the AEC industry.

The product line also helps buildings meet stringent energy codes such as IECC, ASHRAE 90.1, and 2025 California Title 24, Part 6, lighting control requirements.

According to the maker, the lighting delivers full linear performance (optical quality, output, and finish) in form factors small enough for spaces that typically cannot accommodate traditional fixtures. The units are Declare certified for transparency and sustainability, Title 24/JA8-compliant, and wet-location rated.

This slot diffuser offers a clean, blended look and is engineered for high airflow environments. Suitable for acoustical and tile grid ceilings, the product comes as a kit with the plenum box and is designed to fit into a standard 24×24-inch T-bar and drop ceiling grids. Its broad color palette is fit for a range of applications, from wayfinding and branding, to mood creation and circadian support. Schedules can be set to deliver circadian support through time-of-day cues.

PureEdge Lighting

Just a half-inch thick, this 48-volt plaster-in recessed track system blends within drywall surfaces, eliminating joist modification, providing flexibility to make turns along the ceiling. A paintable slotcover is supplied with the track channels, leaving only the track head visible once installed. Designed for a clean aesthetic, it supports a variety of fixture options and is ideal for residential, commercial, retail, and hospitality environments. Track heads easily attach to the track and adjust, tilt, and rotate using a small screw driver to lock into place.
