Contractors increasingly view construction robotics favorably

GCs are opting for fewer pilot testing, but are using proven technology more regularly.

Contractors have a more positive view of robotic tools in 2025 than in the past, according to BuiltWorlds’ new Equipment & Robotics Benchmarking report.

Positive evaluations of robotic equipment rose from 74% in 2024 to over 95% this year, while the most negative evaluations dropped to zero. Fewer companies are testing new technology this year with the share of firms using robotics falling from 65% last year to 46%.

But the firms that are using robotics have moved to more serious implementation rather than just kicking the tires to see what might work for them. Companies are less likely to try products from early-stage startups, instead focusing on commercial-ready tools.

Contractors including Suffolk, DPR, Webcor, and Turner Construction have increased their use of jobsite tools such as Canvas, a robotic drywall finishing tool, and Dusty Robotics’ robots that print layout parameters on the jobsite floor from BIM models.
