Robots that paint and finish drywall are helping to create the new Netflix House, an experiential entertainment venue in King of Prussia, Penn.

Netflix House will feature themed dining, retail, and immersive, story-driven experiences connected to shows such as Bridgerton and Stranger Things. The King of Prussia Mall location and another location at Galleria Dallas will open later this year. A third location will open in Las Vegas in 2027.

Okibo, a robotic-tools company headquartered in Englewood, N.J. and Tel Aviv, Israel, has designed the robots being used by U.S.-based Performance Contracting, Inc. (PCI) on the 100,000-sf Netflix House project.

The robots perform repetitive overhead work, eliminating the need for a lift or scaffold for work up to 12 feet above ground. As a result, finish crews on Netflix House are experiencing a significant reduction in physical burnout and fatigue, according to a press statement from Okibo.

In addition, the project has achieved a 5x increase in productivity for Level 4 and Level 5 sanding jobs while meeting quality standards.

“I used a traditional power sander in one of the largest rooms on this job, and it took me all day. I was physically exhausted,” Kevin Murphy, Journeyman on the Netflix House project, said in the statement. “Then I used the Okibo robot in an identical room, and I didn’t feel drained at all. I’ve come to really value this machine for what it is: it’s saving my body.”

Okibo’s robotic tools are designed to enhance a skilled construction team’s efficiency, increase safety, and help address the industry’s labor shortage problem. Okibo’s products do not require tech skills or set-up time, and they are fully independent, battery-operated units.

PCI and Okibo intend to continue their partnership on an upcoming data center construction project in Washington, D.C. Founded in 2018, Okibo opened its U.S. headquarters earlier this year.
