Emissions calculator to understand New York City’s Local Law 97 launched
Property management company Daisy has launched a free Web-based tool that allows condo and co-op owners to understand looming penalties under New York City’s Local Law 97 (LL97).
Carbon Curve, an emissions calculator, uses publicly available data from the city’s Department of Buildings. It projects a specific building’s emissions in 2030 and calculates what its fines could be if no action is taken.
The tool provides a clear, visual forecast that helps boards and owners take control of their compliance plans before penalties set in, according to a news release. “With LL97 compliance deadlines shifting, many of the 50,000+ affected buildings are still in the dark about their emissions exposure or what the law will mean for their bottom line,” the release says. “According to recent studies, New York City buildings could face over $300 million in annual fines starting in 2030 if they fail to meet emissions standards.”
“Building boards can’t afford to guess,” said Yotam Cohen, CEO and Co-Founder of Daisy. “Carbon Curve lets them see exactly what’s coming if they don’t act—and more importantly, it gives them the time to change the outcome.”
