Texas Christian University to deliver two mixed-use apartment buildings with 780 beds
In Fort Worth, Tex., Texas Christian University and its development partner, Endeavor Real Estate Group, recently broke ground on a mixed-used housing and retail development called Morado on Berry.
Designed by Lake|Flato and RAMSA, the two luxury apartment-style buildings will deliver 780 beds for upper-division and graduate students, along with about 25,000 sf of ground-floor retail space for the entire campus, by fall 2027.
As part of TCU’s campus master plan, Morado on Berry aims to expand housing to support student-centered growth. The plan includes a total of 35 structures that will create a new urban village and a new gateway to campus. (TCU enrolls just under 13,000 students, including roughly 11,000 undergraduates.)
“This phase of campus development reflects our long-term commitment to providing an environment where students thrive—academically, socially, and personally,” Daniel W. Pullin, TCU president, said in a statement.
The fully furnished apartments, which include studios and two to five bedrooms, will be available to rent by the bedroom. In-residence amenities include modern kitchens and laundry rooms.
Building amenities feature a fitness center with a Pilates studio, rooftop pool and deck with jumbotron, and various gathering spaces. A social lounge off the pool deck offers billiards and other games. The seventh level provides an outdoor living room with outdoor cooking facilities and rooftop views of the TCU main campus. The buildings also offer both group and private study rooms.
“The design fosters a hospitality-oriented environment and creates a series of spaces to encourage academic success, a sense of community, and health and wellness,” Jake Newman, Endeavor principal, said in the statement. “With Morado on Berry and future phases, we’re creating a connected, urban village that blends upscale student living with curated retail, thoughtful public spaces, and architecture that honors both the university and surrounding community.”
