Italian researchers have developed a robot called Concert that performs multiple tasks on job sites.

Concert drills on walls and ceilings of up to 3.5 meters high, sprays insulation, sands walls, and helps people transport heavy materials. The robot’s versatility could be a welcome aid to offset construction labor shortages.

The robot consists of a mobile base and a modular arm. The base is equipped with wheels that can be changed for different terrain, while the robotic arm can be outfitted with various tools for different tasks.

Although other construction robots have been introduced, they are limited in that they can only perform specific tasks. A robot that can perform multiple tasks could augment labor enough to substitute for humans on job sites.
