New seismic standard to evaluate, retrofit existing structural steel buildings open for review

Portions of the current draft of a new American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) standard, “Seismic Provisions for Evaluation and Retrofit of Existing Structural Steel Buildings (AISC 342),” are available for public review.

The standard will provide provisions to be used with ASCE/SEI 41 for seismic evaluation and retrofit of existing structural steel buildings. It is expected to replace Chapter 9 of that document.

The standard is available for download on the AISC website at aisc.org/publicreview along with the review form. Deadline for comments is November 4.
