Pantone tags ‘Greenery’ as its Color of the Year 2017

Pantone has announced its selection for Color of the Year 2017 with Greenery, a yellow-green shade meant to allude to the great outdoors and natural foliage. The company describes the color as “nature’s neutral,” saying it has rapidly moved from the periphery to the forefront.

As it is nature’s neutral, the color is a versatile shade that pairs well with many different color combinations, such as with other neutrals, brights, deeper shades, pastels, and metallics.

“Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another, and a larger purpose,” says Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute on the company’s website.

As individuals attempt to live healthier, greener lives, and architects and urban planners begin to put an even greater emphasis on designing green, sustainable buildings and cities, the choice of Greenery as Color of the Year 2017 was a natural one.

It hasn’t taken long for manufacturers to hop on board the Greenery train, either. Elmira Stove Works, a manufacturer of vintage-styled kitchen appliances, recently announced the availability of retro-inspired products in the Northstar line in Greenery.

Meanwhile, Feeney, a manufacturer of stainless steel and aluminum railing systems, is offering its own version of Greenery with its “Express Yourself” line of DesignRail in Margarita Green.
