Support increasing in Ontario to change codes to allow taller wood frame construction
Developers and home builders are asking the Ontario government to change the building code to allow construction of six-story wood frame buildings. Currently, the code allows wood frame construction up to only four stories. Supporters say the move would enable the construction of more affordable housing, and point to a revision of the code in British Columbia that now allows the taller wood frame structures.
