New ASHRAE residential indoor air quality standard adds carbon monoxide alarm requirement
The new 2013 version of ASHRAE’s residential indoor air quality standard adds a requirement for carbon monoxide alarms. One of the biggest changes to the standard over the 2010 version is an increase in mechanical ventilation rates to 7.5 cfm per person, plus 3 cfm per 100 square feet. This is due to the removal of the default assumption regarding natural infiltration.
