Former industrial French city reshapes itself according to ambitious green standards
The efforts of Nantes, France, to reshape itself with an eye toward climate change, transportation, water, and biodiversity have turned it from an industrial and port city into an eco-metropolis. The city has been designated by the European Union as its "Green Capital" for 2013. Nantes has a strong commitment to address challenges such as urban sprawl and carbon dioxide emissions.
