Skanska’s Safety Week at top of ladder

Oct. 22, 2012

Skanska, an international construction and development firm, will host its eighth annual Safety Week from Monday, Oct.22, to Sunday, Oct.28.

The event, which is the world’s largest workplace safety initiative, includes thousands of activities held at Skanska worksites and offices. Employees will participate in activities during Safety Week designed to show how to better avoid workplace risks; perform rescue techniques and fire training; practice health and first aid training; and evade injuries on the job.

Each year Skanska chooses a theme for Safety Week. This year’s event will revolve around the slogan, “The journey to zero accidents begins with me.”

Skanska seeks to reduce the number of workplace-related accidents. On Skanska jobsites around the world, project teams strive for zero accidents on a daily basis. During the last six years, Skanska’s rate for employees who lost time because of accidents has been cut in half; by 2015, the company aims to eliminate three out of four lost-time accidents.
