Washington D.C. seniors home focuses on sustainable design
Responding to a tight infill lot surrounded by other apartment buildings, Zavos Architecture+Design, Frederick, Md., has designed a five-story structure with 36 one-bedroom units and support spaces for the VIDA Senior Centers, an organization that provides services and programs to Latin American seniors. Residents will benefit from the apartment's sustainable features, which include a green roof with a walking path for the seniors, an infrastructure for future photovoltaic panels, and permeable paving.
