Toledo-based SSOE Inc. is A/E for a $930 million Nissan assembly plant near Canton, Miss. The general contractor is a joint venture involving Philadelphia, Miss.-based W.G. Yates & Sons Construction Co. and Detroit-based Walbridge Aldinger. Vehicle production at the new plant is expected to begin by 2003.

Ground has been broken for an 11-story office building, the first element of the three-phase Rockville Metro Plaza designed by Washington-based Weihe Design Group. Foulger-Pratt-Companies, also of Washington, is developer and general contractor for the 223,000-sq.-ft. project, located in Rockville, Md.

Miller Stauffer Architects of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, will design a 15-story condominium tower there. Garco Construction, Spokane, Wash., is the GC.

Greeley, Colo.-based Hensel Phelps Construction Co. has been selected by the Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum to build the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center at Washington Dulles Airport.

Los Angeles-based Johnson Fain Partners is architect for a 34-story office building in Century City, the first major Los Angeles high-rise office project in more than a decade. The general contractor for the $115 million project is San Francisco's Hathaway Dinwiddie.
