• Nationally recognized design leader and sustainability advocate Sandy Mendler, AIA, will be a principal at Seattle-based architecture firm Mithun starting later this year. The former SVP and design principal for HOK will work primarily out of Mithun’s new San Francisco office.

SSRCx, the commissioning subsidiary of Smith Seckman Reid, Nashville, Tenn., has hired Denise van den Bossche, LEED AP, as director of LEED facilitation sales for the Southwest in the firm’s Phoenix office.

• Chicago-based Goettsch Partners has promoted long-time staff member Joseph Dolinar, AIA, to partner.

• Shelton, Conn.-based Fletcher Thompson has opened an office in New York City to serve its public and private education, healthcare, government, and corporate clients there.

Tom Braud, AIA, has joined Omaha, Neb.-based HDR Architecture as VP and senior healthcare planner in the firm’s Houston office. Braud will be responsible for leading the medical planning and design initiatives out of Houston.
