Mies modernized in Dirksen Federal Building, replacing systems updated in 1963

A variety of interoperable devices was used to update the building-automation system of Chicago's 1 million-sq.-ft. E.M. Dirksen Building, originally designed by Mies van der Rohe. In the first phase, Chicago's Teng & Associates replaced the manually adjusted HVAC equipment and control systems dating back to 1963 with devices selected from a multitude of companies producing LonMark-certified products, helping to ensure competitive bids for subsequent phases of the project.
