Pennsylvania Redevelopment Breaks Ground

Aug. 11, 2010

Strada Architecture and Urban Design of Pittsburgh broke ground in April on Nationwide Centre, part of a three-phase downtown redevelopment master plan for Washington, Pa., a city of 15,000 southwest of Pittsburgh.

The 140,000-sf, seven-story mixed-use structure will consist of 20,000 sf of retail space on two levels and offices for Nationwide Appraisal Service Corp. Strada also designed a 1,200-space parking garage and amphitheater park, and mandated the re-facing of an existing building for the first phase of "The Crossroads" redevelopment project. Phase two will comprise construction of an 84-room hotel, new ground-floor retail buildings, 36 townhouses, and 111 loft apartments. The final phase of the estimated $100 million redevelopment calls for façade restorations and other retail upgrades to the city's historic Main Street. Strada is the design and landscape architect for all aspects of the project.
