Six new science labs, 11 classrooms, and much-need support space have been added to the campus of Ocean View High School in Huntington Beach, Calif. The $13.8 million expansion project was executed by St. Louis, Mo.-based McCarthy Building Cos. as part of the $238 million Measure C school modernization program McCarthy is managing for the Huntington Beach Union High School District. The new science labs, which replace those that are being converted into classrooms, are ADA compliant and are equipped with new casework, fume hoods and lab stations with chemical-resistant countertops, sinks, gas, power, high-speed data connections, as well as emergency exhaust systems and showers. Y'Deen/Associates Architects of Brea, Calif., designed the expansion, and Irvine, Calif.-based LPA Inc. developed the master plan for the district.
