Hoping to attract science and technology start-ups to its Flint, Mich., campus, Kettering University has broken ground on a 9,000-sf incubator building in the school’s new technology park. The LEED-registered facility is expected to play a key role in the economic redevelopment of mid-Michigan by drawing high-tech entrepreneurs to the area. SHW Group, Berkley, Mich., divided the facility into public and private functional space, each supporting scientific and technologically based start-up companies that need dedicated laboratory space during their first three to four years of business. Amenities in the public space include a business center, executive and administrative offices, a conference room, and a vending and seating area.
