Dallas-based Trammell Crow Company, Austin developer Constructive Ventures, and the San Antonio office of USAA Real Estate Co. will redevelop the Green Water Treatment Plant and adjoining Austin Energy Control Center sites, together encompassing more than six acres in downtown Austin, Texas. The project will represent Austin's largest downtown redevelopment effort to date. The team's proposed plan, designed by Mithun, Seattle, includes condos, apartments, offices, lodging, and retail space, blended with five public squares. The project also includes a senor living facility, a boutique hotel, and more than 5,000 parking spaces. The redevelopment is expected to gain LEED Gold certification, with buildings featuring solar thermal collectors, double-skin membranes, solar screens, and vegetated roofs.
