Record highs for steel prices

In the midst of a potential U.S. recession, steel prices are breaking records according to MarketWatch, including hot-rolled coil steel (up 72%) and cold-rolled steel (up 62%). The International Iron and Steel Institute reports demand is also on the rise, predicting a global increase of 6.7% in 2008 and 6.3% in 2009.
