Truly transparent: Fire resistive butt-glazed walls up to 2 hours
Designers can now achieve truly transparent fire resistive glass walls up to 2 hours without vertical mullions or spacers using SuperLite II-XLM, the latest fire resistive glazing product from US-based fire rated glass and framing manufacturer SAFTI FIRST.
SuperLite II-XLM is a fire resistive multi-laminate glass product that meets ASTM E-119/UL 263/NFPA 251 and CAN/ULC S101 up to 2 hours. It meets the hose stream test and is impact safety rated to the maximum safety standard CPSC Cat. II. It is available in large sizes and can be used in all fire rated 20/45/60/90/120 minute applications including for use in clear butt-glazed walls for maximum vision and transparency.
“Architects have specified glass for its ability to deliver unobstructed views for vision and transparency. A product like SuperLite II-XLM now allows for maximum fire protection and impact safety. Designers can now use glass in areas where fire and impact safety are required by code,” says William O’Keeffe, President and CEO of SAFTI FIRST. “Without vertical mullions or spacers, SuperLite II-XLM in 1 and 2 hour fire resistive butt-glazed wall applications enables architects to add even more transparency to any space while still meeting fire and safety requirements.”
SuperLite II-XLM can be used for interior and exterior applications with insulation and maximum sound reduction. It can be easily incorporated in GPX Architectural Series Framing, GPX SNAPCAP or GPX Builders Series Temperature Rise Framing for a complete fire rated assembly. SuperLite II-XLM is listed with both UL and Intertek and carries a 5 year warranty.
