Dramatic makeover brings Tacoma Park home to life

Oct. 24, 2016

Builders are more limited when remodeling an existing home, but this didn’t stop builder Allen Kanner. He recently purchased a home in Tacoma Park, Maryland, and gave it a significant makeover, including adding a second story. He proved that giving a home a completely new look and feel is possible.

“It wasn’t much to look at before we started the renovation,” said Kanner, cofounder and principal of Added Dimensions Construction. “We wanted a house that was unique and playful, and that’s something we truly achieved once construction was complete.”

The exterior transformation of the home was striking. Kanner used aluminum Opaline metal panels from ATAS International, Inc., coated black with Valspar’s Fluropon. He also installed corrugated metal with horizontal and vertical orientations.

“I wanted to do something completely different for the exterior,” said Kanner. “We decided to go with a coated metal material due to the unique aesthetic and versatility it provides.”

The project was completed in 2013 and the results are impressive. “The finished product looks absolutely great and has held up incredibly well,” said Kanner. “I haven’t noticed any faults or fading in the coating, and it looks just as vibrant as the day the metal panels were installed.”
