The human experience is shaped by the world we live in. Color in particular impacts our response to the environment around us. Through the use of color, we can enhance qualities and attributes – shaping our lives.

The new year presents a great opportunity to reflect on our goals and aspirations for the coming year. Use a splash of color or even paint an entire room to manifest and realize your dreams and goals. Kate Smith, an international color expert provides many insights on unleashing the power of color.

Yellow and orange for happiness

Do you want to bring joy into your life this coming year? If so, use yellow to create intimacy among friends and encourage communication. Meanwhile, use orange for an uplifting effect.

“Yellow makes you feel happier and will stimulate two-way conversations, while orange is uplifting, optimistic, and inspires spontaneity,” Smith said.

White for clarity

Do you want to clear your thoughts and have a fresh beginning this year? If so, white is a great choice. It is no surprise that bridal gowns and the international color of surrender are white.

Remember to regard use of color as an ongoing experiment and play with the results. "We've all made mistakes before," recommends Smith. "Color is not easy. It's just not simple until you really understand it."
