Modular Space Showcase: Bringing work-life balance to energy workers in the Bakken region
As we’ve mentioned previously, we do a lot of work in the Bakken Shale region of the U.S. For several years we’ve been servicing customers in Williston, a city in the northwest corner of North Dakota. A decade ago this area was a seemingly quiet and quaint city. Today, Williston is the epicenter of oil and gas operations because of its proximity to the Bakken Formation. This energy hotbed is estimated to be larger than all other current U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) oil assessments of the lower 48 states. It’s also the largest continuous oil accumulation ever assessed by the USGS.
To meet the demands of the booming energy business, Williston needed to provide homes, recreation centers, restaurants, hotels and other support facilities for the tidal wave of energy workers relocating to the Bakken Shale area. One of the preeminent companies involved in the region is CalFrac, a North America-based company that provides oilfield industry services.
To ensure the physical and emotional well-being of their staff, CalFrac wanted to create a robust recreation center where its team could retreat, relax, exercise or rejuvenate after working long hours. The complex was designed to accommodate 250 people and include a full range of entertainment options.
Williams Scotsman was selected for the project based on our vast experience in the area and our innovative product solutions. We developed a quality building with a well- thought-out design. We worked diligently during the design and procurement phases to ensure that all the material fit and operated precisely to the customer’s expectations. In addition to providing the modular space for the center, we also sourced all of the needed furnishings and equipment.
The highly customized building includes two theaters with tiered seating, a gym (with a 10 foot high ceiling and Matrix fitness equipment), computer room, Xbox gaming center, and a general entertainment room including TVs, card tables, pool tables and foosball table. From start to finish, the project took three months. The building provides more than 4,000 square feet of space and was installed last January during sub-zero temperatures. Regardless of weather or remote locations, we deliver quality products and services to all our customers.
