Build green while you work green
Last month, many of us in the building and construction industry attended the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo in New Orleans. Like many attending that conference, Williams Scotsman agrees that green building is a good idea and good for business. That’s why several years ago we launched our reMOD™ product line to encourage builders to work green while building green.
Leading general contractors including Skanska USA Building Inc., and Turner Construction are implementing sustainable modular jobsite offices throughout the country.
Our reMOD sustainable jobsite office demonstrates jobsite innovation and may afford construction project teams the opportunity to obtain additional innovation and design points, making a higher level of LEED certification achievable. reMOD is comprised of refurbished offices from Williams Scotsman’s existing fleet for the light and mid-green models, complemented by newly constructed units for the dark green option.
The product portfolio provides flexibility for jobsites with different requirements:
• The light green unit utilizes an existing mobile office retrofitted to include eco-minded elements, such as energy efficient light bulbs, motion sensors, weather stripping, caulk, and programmable thermostats, among others.
• The mid-green unit is based on the same structural framework but includes energy-efficient HVAC units, eco-minded finishes, and other system enhancements.
• The dark green unit includes all the light and mid-green options as well as an eco-minded interior and exterior design and framework. Composting systems and self-sustaining renewable resource systems maximize energy efficiency in the units.
The building and construction sector isn’t the only one concerned with working green while building green. The energy and education fields are also increasingly requesting sustainable temporary modular units. In fact, Paul Raiford, director of energy services for Williams Scotsman, has been selected to discuss the reMOD product line at the Energy, Utility and Environment Conference (EUEC) in San Diego in February of next year. Paul is presenting on Monday, February 16, at 1p.m. about the importance of working green while generating renewable clean energy.
