Competitors vie to redevelop home of N.Y. Islanders on Long Island
Four groups are competing to redevelop the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, home of the New York Islanders hockey team, which is moving to Brooklyn in 2015. One proposal calls for $250 million plan to renovate the arena and build a 150,000 sf complex that would include retail, entertainment and dining areas. Cordish Cos. and the Madison Square Garden Co. back that proposal. The plan by SCI Architects would add a 150,000 sf entertainment, restaurant and retail complex called Long Island Live to the 41-year-old arena.
