Let me introduce myself...and you are?
As Director of Strategic Alliances for Bluebeam Software, I have the pleasure of speaking with many of our users directly about the challenges they face in the AEC world. One of the common comments I hear is, “We’re trying to solve many communication challenges on our projects, but our biggest issues are primarily access and control.”
It seems everyone is faced with the same core challenges when it comes to project communication. How do we leverage technology to improve project communication? How do we give access while maintaining control? How do we find out what the other guys have tried? What works, what doesn’t? Are we the only ones still struggling to go paperless?
These interactions have led me to the conclusion that at some point, each of us has had a meeting or multiple meetings to try and solve these and other issues. So I had a thought, what if we could talk openly about our challenges, sharing real results and real failures. Wouldn’t that be refreshing?
Well that’s what I hope to do in this blog, share real examples, ask questions, and hopefully pick the collective brain (your brain included) to start discussions on what works and maybe more importantly, what doesn’t work, in solving communication challenges in the construction world.
Because we’re still getting to know each other, I won’t pose any specific questions to you today (I understand if you’re a little shy at first) but rather, I will pose a rhetorical question to you: If a design discussion takes place over a web conference and no one knows how to capture the comments, do they really exist?
Now, ponder...
