Green Bay Packers' Lambeau Field renovation begins
Workers have begun a major renovation of Lambeau Field, home of the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers. The stadium will get a $143 million makeover that will include construction of a rooftop viewing terrace for club seats and a total of 6,700 new seats added in four levels. Team officials estimate the project will employ as many as 1,600 workers over a two-year period.
When the project is completed—expected in time for the 2013 season—the north end zone will look different from the rest of the bowl with a "vertical wall" effect. The design will likely make the stadium louder, giving the home team an advantage, a team official says.
