The Chicago Planning Tour mobile app is sponsored by Parsons Brinckerhoff for the 2013 American Planning Association National Conference in Chicago April 13-17, 2013. Users of the app are able to get directions to specific locations, view exhibits and recently completed planning and development projects, and share their experiences via social media (Facebook and Twitter). As an incentive to visit a site, when a user checks in with their smart device at a location, they will be given coupons or award points.
With a tap or swipe of a finger, users can view the project map, access information on the projects, submit public comments on the proposed plan and projects, and receive project updates.
The app was developed in partnership with GeneXus USA, a business and data driven mobile app provider, and the Metropolitan Planning Council (MPC), a Chicago nonprofit policy and planning advocate. The app highlights planning-related events and projects in metropolitan Chicago for conference-goers.
Over 20 Organizations/projects have been submitted. Several organizations in participating in the app, including:
