The original cladding for the nine-story Silver Creek Resort’s location in Snowshoe, W. Va., was not proving well in holding up against the region’s snow and other wet weather conditions. Recent renovations included the installation of a StoTherm Lotusan NExT exterior insulation and finish system (EIFS) to prevent the water leaks and damaged carpets that were starting to become routine after extreme wind, snow, and rain events. The StoTherm Lotusan NExT system includes five inches of continuous insulation, StoGuard (a fluid-applied waterproofing air barrier), and StoLit Lotusan (a finish with a pronounced self-cleaning effect). Upon completion, residents noted lower utility bills, reduced noise from the outside, and dry interiors even after major storms.
