SAIC makes ready to lay off 700
Engineering/architecture giant SAIC, McLean, Va. (2011 construction revenues: $185,390,000), said it plans to cut its workforce by 700 employees, many of them in the Washington, D.C., region, in order to remain competitive in the federal market.
SAIC (also known as Science Applications International Corp.) is getting ready to split into two businesses: a $7 billion-a-year technology business (which includes cybersecurity) and a $4 billion-a-year government services company specializing in systems engineering, program office support, and related services.
