LED lights occupy Los Angeles City Hall park

Oct. 13, 2012

After Occupy L.A. demonstrators camped out on the lawn surrounding Los Angeles City Hall for nearly two months, City Hall Park was in need of repair. Eight months and $1 million in renovations later, the park has reopened with a number of green improvements, including energy- efficient LED lighting from LEDtronics. Thirteen lampposts featuring 27-watt LED post-top bulbs illuminate the 1.7-acre park. The lamps save 103 watts per unit over the park’s previous lamps and, according to the manufacturer, offer improved visibility and enhanced night vision, reduced light pollution, and no ultraviolet emissions that attract insects.
