Self-leveling floor coating keeps physicians’ office safe and functional

Jan. 4, 2012

Heavy exam tables and equipment had begun to take their toll on the three-year-old vinyl composition tile flooring in a Bridgeville, Pa., physicians’ office, Preferred Primary Care Physicians, located just outside Pittsburgh. Office personnel contracted Seman Flooring to refurbish the floors with more durable materials and a seamless coating from Bayer MaterialScience. A bio-based, self-leveling pigmented basecoat was applied to the floors, which was then enhanced with heavy partial broadcast of decorative chips. A clear, zero-VOC, UV-curable topcoat polished off the decorative floor, providing slip resistance and long-term wear. The durable, chip-resistant, low-odor flooring project was completed quickly, limiting appointment interruptions.
