• SPF is being specified more often for both new construction and retrofit applications in the quest for LEED points.
• Traditionally a popular choice for roof insulation, spray foam is being used more and more in commercial wall systems.
• Open-cell foam can be used for interior wall applications such as sound attenuation. While closed-cell foam has some sound-absorbing capabilities, open-cell is preferable because its structure allows sound to be absorbed more readily; closed-cell foam’s more rigid structure tends to reflect sound.
• In building renovations, foam is being used for air sealing around windows and at roof/wall junctures.
