A modular elevator was added to the Jesuit High School in Carmichael, Calif., as part of the private college preparatory school’s modernization project. Williams + Paddon Architects, Roseville, Calif., specified Modular Elevator Manufacturing’s unit over a traditional elevator because of cost savings and faster installation: the unit installed in one day and was ready for use in two. The company’s modular units are built in freestanding, rated or non-rated structural steel elevator towers. Upon delivery to the job site, they are lifted into place by a crane and anchored down. The unit at the Jesuit school has a brick veneer to match the building’s traditional architecture.
