When Kansas City Power & Light planned renovations for its new office space, the company targeted LEED certification, and actually achieved LEED Gold. A Tate access floor system helped them meet this goal by creating space for an efficient underfloor air distribution system that keeps air quality high while using less energy use than traditional systems. The raised floor system consists of an understructure, which accounts for positive positioning, lateral retention, and leveling adjustments, and 24-in. square welded steel floor panels filled with lightweight cement. The space underneath the floor accommodates wiring, cabling, and HVAC systems, allowing easy access for repairs.
