Steel cables give pedestrian bridge structure, high design

Oct. 13, 2010

The Bellevue Skybridge, which provides access between the mixed-use Lincoln Square and Bellevue Square shopping centers in Bellevue, Wash., required materials that gave it a modern appearance and were also corrosion resistant. Sclater Partners Architects designed the 107-foot steel-framed span using Ronstan Tensile Architecture stainless steel cables. The ACS3 structural cable system gives the 11-foot-wide bridge the necessary structure and stability, while its weblike design projects a look of modernity. The cables require little maintenance or paint, according to the manufacturer. Ronstan Tensile Architecture
