Properly illuminating MRI and CT suites while still encompassing a sustainable, holistic design is a challenge for healthcare providers. MRI patients are often claustrophobic, stressed, or scared—or all three. To help improve the patient experience at its new $90 million facility in Franklin, Wis., Wheaton Franciscan Franklin Hospital installed LED graphic panel luminaries and LED recessed, dimmable downlights in its MRI and CT suites. The long-lasting LED fixtures do not use filaments that can react with magnetic fields, nor do they emit radio frequencies. And, according to hospital staff, the enhanced environment helps MRI and CT patients relax and focus on something other than the procedures.
