Consisting of pre-planted modular trays, Carlisle's GreenGrid Roof Garden System is approximately half the cost of a traditional roof garden installation and allows roofing contractors to install the entire system without the need for landscape architects, according to the maker. Like traditional roof gardens, it aids in storm water management and air purification and helps lower a building's heating and cooling while decreasing the urban heat-island effect in metropolitan areas. The system comes standard with lightweight, four- or eight-inch-deep trays available in different sizes that support sedum and other plants.
