The solar-control performance of Solarban glass enhances six of the 10 projects selected as the 2008 COTE Top Ten Green Projects by the American Institute of Architects' Committee on the Environment. Two of the award-winning buildings, the Cesar Chavez Library in Laveen, Ariz., and the Pocono Environmental Education Center in Dingmans Ferry, Pa., feature Sungate 500 low-emissivity glass by PPG. The glass can produce U-value (insulating value) improvements of 27% over standard, clear insulating units, while transmitting as much as 74% of the sun's visible light. Sungate 500 was also used on the PNC Firstside Center in Pittsburgh (right), which was honored by COTE in 2001.
