The University of New Haven wanted a recreation facility that would meet a wide variety of fitness needs for its 5,000 students, while also helping to attract new applicants to the university. What the university got is a $15.5 million facility that has quickly become the crown jewel of the West Haven, Conn., campus.
Sasaki Associates' project architect Robert Titus specified several Nora flooring products for the fitness and stairwell areas. “I knew from experience that the floor covering is durable and easy to maintain, important features when we're talking about large machines, steady traffic, and limited downtime for maintenance,” said Titus. “The floor covering also offers slip resistance, which becomes important in a space where people perspire while they work out.”
