Sun tracker maximizes daylight

Aug. 11, 2010

Skylight dome unit maximizes the level of daylight in buildings by tracking the sun's position with a global positioning system and directing the sunlight down the skylight using a mirror. The Ciralight SunTrackerTwo system produces illumination equivalent to 800 watts of fluorescent lighting, or more than a 1,000-watt metal halide lamp, according to the maker. The GPS tracks and locks onto the sun even when the sun is at very low angles, enabling the system to perform effectively in northern latitudes.
