Acoustic Panels
Praise the sound
The worshippers at Foothills Community Church in Angels Camp, Calif. couldn't hear the pastor's words and the choir's music.
"For a year and a half, we tried everything from hanging banners to stacking furniture to redirecting the speakers," says worship leader David Bowman. "We knew we had a problem; we just didn't know how to solve it." An acoustics specialist came on the scene and calculated the existing sound absorption capacity of the room to determine how many square feet of acoustic panels would achieve the desired reverberation time of 1.5 to 2 seconds in the 46x60-ft.-wide and 20-ft.-high room. The result was 20 neutral-colored Fabritec panels secured to each wall with water-based adhesive and finish.
