Breaking the dew point

Aug. 11, 2010

Technology can improve the dehumidification capabilities of air-conditioning systems in hospitals, enhancing patient healing, lowering costs, and improving staff satisfaction. Trane’s Cool, Dry, Quiet dehumidifier can extract 200% more water from the air than standard dehumidification systems. Traditional air conditioners have an inherently limited dehumidification capacity because the air dew point cannot be lower than the coil temperature. The CDQ breaks this dewpoint barrier, allowing for the transfer of water from the supply air to the return air (mixed air). The dew point can also be lowered five to 15 degrees F without lowering the chilled water temperature. No need to sub-cool and then reheat the air to achieve a low dew point.
