Vancouver's 70,000-sf Edgewater Casino isn't your average gambling emporium. Built in the shell of a building that was originally constructed for the 1986 World's Fair, the casino's envelope is made up of 90% glass and features soaring, vaulted ceilings.
In order to heat and cool the massive interior space without breaking the bank, Edgewater's owners looked for an energy-efficient HVAC system. They opted to go with a hybrid displacement system based around a raised floor dotted with Price ARFHD displacement diffusers. The system incorporates 1,300 of the circular, architecturally pleasing diffusers, as well as eight other types of Price products, including clean and quiet fan-powered underfloor terminal units, adjustable air pattern cone diffusers, and half-round wall displacement diffusers. The result is a building that is capable of staying within a single degree of temperature fluctuation—a major success for such an unwieldy space.
