Sliding doors that won't blow away
Simonton Windows' StormBreaker Plus Sliding Impact Vinyl doors have two panes of glass (one tempered, the other impact-resistant laminated) that the company says are strong enough to not require boarding up before a storm. The dual panels also increase the vinyl-framed doors' energy efficiency and reduce noise intrusion. The doors come in two- and three-panel sets in sizes ranging from 5 x 6-8 feet to 12 x 8 feet. All Simonton windows undergo intense impact, pressure cycling, and water filtration tests to ensure durability during inclement weather.

New options for pultruded fiberglass windows
Integrity's All Ultrex Window series is made entirely of pultruded fiberglass, which is eight times stronger than vinyl, and finished with a thick acrylic. The window series, which resists warping, scratching, and fading, adds double-hung and glider models to its line of single-hung, polygon, and transom units. Available in colors stone white, pebble gray, and bronze. Shipping and jobsite damage to the units is reduced by the addition of a sash lock and keeper that allows the windows to be shipped locked.

London hotel uses 'corporate' windows
Going for a contemporary look, designers of London's new Soho Hotel used 159 windows from Crittall Windows' Corporate W20 and Corporate 2000 range. The hotel's ground floor features the Corporate 2000 composite profiles, while the rest of the building has the Corporate W20 with small panes and curved heads. The use of the Corporate profiles maximized the glazing by adding slim sightlines. In addition to the fenestration, Crittall Windows also designed the hotel's steel-framed front entrance doors.
